OVERVIEW

Our TEAM undertook a comprehensive renovation of a McDonald’s in Maumee, Ohio. On a demanding six-week schedule—and running concurrently with another project—the team executed a near-complete rebuild of both front and drive-thru elevations, interior dining spaces, and the kitchen. The drive-thru remained open for the initial four weeks, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations and customer service.

CHALLENGES

Concurrent Project: Managing this renovation simultaneously with another McDonald’s project required meticulous scheduling and resource allocation.

Major Structural Overhaul: Removing and reconstructing the front and drive-thru elevations demanded expert coordination and adherence to strict engineering specifications.

Maintaining Partial Operations: Keeping the drive-thru functional for four weeks necessitated a phasing strategy that prioritized customer safety, crew efficiency, and brand consistency.

OUR APPROACH

Phased Construction & Scheduling: Our TEAM focused on the exterior front and drive-thru elevations first, using targeted demolition and construction zones while ensuring uninterrupted drive-thru service. Once the drive-thru portion was completed and secure, the team moved into the full interior renovation phase.

Interior & Exterior Integration:: Inside, our TEAM transformed 1,875 square feet of dining, lobby, and restroom areas down to the studs, installing new finishes, lighting, and fixtures. In the back-of-house, new kitchens and offices were installed, enhancing staff workflow and productivity. Externally, the new EIFS façade, updated glazing, vestibules, and a new roof elevated the building’s aesthetic and durability.

ADA & Site Improvements: The project also included extensive site work—new ADA crosswalks, parking spaces, ramps, 200 feet of city sidewalk, and 250 feet of new curb. Additionally, new drive-thru footers supported a double-lane configuration and loop detectors, improving traffic flow and efficiency.

Ongoing Collaboration & Communication: Regular updates with McDonald’s corporate and local stakeholders ensured alignment with brand standards and quick resolution of on-site challenges. This proactive approach, combined with our TEAM’s experienced team, maintained the project’s quality and timeline.

CONCLUSION

Our Leadership’s delivery of the McDonald’s Maumee project exemplifies effective project orchestration under time-sensitive conditions. By maintaining partial operations, managing concurrent construction efforts, and embracing transparent communication, Our Leadership ensured an improved, modernized, and accessible McDonald’s location that meets both corporate standards and customer expectations.
