OVERVIEW

Our TEAM took on the challenge of revitalizing a McDonald’s in Toledo, Ohio, completing the work in just four weeks. The project included adding 750 square feet of new kitchen space with underground utilities, installing a new double-lane drive-thru system, and converting an existing interior playground into a versatile regional/corporate meeting room. Throughout the initial three weeks, the drive-thru remained operational, ensuring consistent customer access and revenue flow.

CHALLENGES

Substantial Interior & Exterior Work: Expanding the kitchen, installing new utilities, and transforming the dining, lobby, and restrooms—all down to the studs—required exceptional coordination and time management.

Upgrading Site Infrastructure: Constructing a double-lane drive-thru and reconfiguring sidewalks, ADA parking, and city walks demanded careful planning and swift execution.

Minimal Downtime: Keeping the drive-thru open for three of the four weeks required a phased approach that balanced guest safety, operational continuity, and construction efficiency.

OUR APPROACH

Phased Drive-Thru Accessibility: For the first three weeks, our TEAM tackled interior demolition and remodeling while ensuring a safe, accessible drive-thru lane. This approach allowed the restaurant to continue serving customers, maintaining brand loyalty and reducing potential revenue losses.

Enhanced Interior Layouts: Inside, the 2,750-square-foot dining, lobby, and restroom areas were completely gutted and rebuilt with updated finishes, furnishings, and lighting. Expanding the kitchen area with underground utilities supported new equipment installations and improved workflow. Converting the former interior playground into a versatile meeting room created additional operational and training space.

Comprehensive Site Upgrades: Our TEAM constructed a new double-lane drive-thru with loop detectors, ensuring faster, more efficient service. Perimeter sidewalks, city walks, and ADA-compliant ramps and parking were installed to improve safety and accessibility. A new triple garbage corral and storage shed enhanced operational efficiency and site aesthetics.

Close Collaboration & Flexibility: Frequent communication with McDonald’s stakeholders helped anticipate potential issues and implement solutions before they impacted the schedule. This proactive approach enabled rapid decision-making and ensured that the project proceeded according to plan.

This McDonald’s in Toledo stands as a testament to Our Leadership’s capability to deliver high-quality, brand-aligned renovations on an accelerated timeline.
